Michael Santangelo

Mike Santangelo is a highly trained professional in the energy efficiency field. Mike began his career in the energy industry at Northeast Utilities as a Program Administrator for demand side management programs within the Conservation and Load Management department. In this role, Mike developed an understanding of the operational standards of utility run conservation programs. During his four-year tenure, Mike earned formal recognition in 2005 and 2006 for achieving more lifetime kWh savings and completing more C&I projects than any of his peers. With such great success, Mike transitioned to a consulting role at RISE Engineering. At RISE, Mike was responsible for overseeing marketing, sales, engineering, audit, design, and project management of services for designated large commercial and industrial clients. During his time at the company, Mike contributed over $10.0 mm of comprehensive energy upgrades throughout New England and New York.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Mike co-founded Northeast Energy Solutions, LLC in 2010 with Rick Galipeau. Northeast Energy Solutions was acquired by World Energy Solutions, Inc. (XWES) in October 2011. Shortly after the integration of both company’s energy efficiency groups, Mike was promoted to VP of Sales for the Energy Efficiency Division.
As VP, his responsibilities included new business development, measure diversification, identification of new energy efficiency technologies and management of new and existing utility relationships.
In 2015 Mike and his partner, Rick Galipeau completed a management buyout of the energy division moving the company back into private hands. Mike’s industry knowledge and expertise in sales, marketing, project design, customer relations and new business development have been leveraged through his role as Vice President to make World Energy the fastest growing Energy Services company in the Northeast.
Mike has achieved many industry certifications including being recognized through the Association of Energy Engineers as a Certified Energy Manager “CEM” and Certified Energy Auditor “CEA”. Mike has a BS Electrical Engineering from the University of Hartford.
