COMMERICAL SOLAR ENERGY INSTALLERS

Solar power - free energy from the sun. What could be more attractive to business than saving energy, reducing operating costs and potentially adding a revenue stream by selling energy back to the grid? Solar is not just for the largest of corporations any longer. There are commercial solar options available for businesses of any size.

World Energy Services takes a unique approach to solar system design. It is the dual offering of both energy efficiency upgrades and solar arrays which makes working with World Energy Services a superior option when compared to working with other commercial solar providers.

The most important differentiator in working with World Energy Services, is we will first reduce the energy load necessary to meet the needs of the facility through an energy efficiency retrofit prior to sizing the building’s solar system. In reducing the overall load, the business requires less energy from the solar system to run current operations, thereby freeing up more energy to sell back to the grid. This permits World Energy Services to dramatically increase the ROI and payback of the project when compared to a solar only company.

By installing high efficiency solar energy solutions, the company’s annual electricity costs are drastically reduced. In many cases, the production of the solar array results in more energy than is required to operate the business. This additional energy may then be sold back to the utility to be used by neighboring businesses, thereby creating an additional income stream for this excess energy production. Prior to the installation of solar, this was an expense. In addition, installing solar is more lucrative than ever through participation in available state and utility incentives. Many states offer unique programs for converting to more sustainable methods of production.

World Energy Services will consult with all stakeholders to formulate a thorough understanding of the company’s overall goals and energy targets. From this discovery, we will gain a full understanding of the business’s current and future plans for the building and surrounding land, allowing us to tailor a project customized to the company’s specific vision and goals. Our main objective will be to provide the best solar system for the property, customized to produce the highest output and maximize energy savings for the facility.

All three main solar systems will be considered:

  • Rooftop solar panels

  • Ground mount solar panels

  • Carport solar panels

Companies may also look to exhibit greater control over demand charges through the addition of battery storage. Whether the facility experiences usage spikes due to processes or increased demand in the summer months to cool the facility, battery storage may be used strategically to reduce energy utilization from the grid thereby reducing spikes in the business’s demand charge.

Beyond saving energy, reducing operating costs and adding a revenue stream by selling energy back to the grid, other benefits of installing solar systems are:

  •  Allows the business to control future energy bills

  •  Greater predictability of operating costs for budgeting purposes

  •  Tax credits and bonus depreciation

  •  Increase the business’s property value

  •  Improved cash flow

  •  Dedication to sustainability improves the company brand with a greener image

  •  Financing options

Each type of solar system has distinct advantages. For a detailed assessment of your location and how your organization can benefit from a commercial solar system, contact us today.

WHAT TO EXPECT

THE PROCESS TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITH WORLD ENERGY

1  DISCOVERY

Upon requesting an solar site assessment, you will be contacted by a solar energy specialist will for an initial discussion in an effort to understand what the company is looking to achieve with the system, and the types of solar the company is interested in. A copy of the facility’s electric bill and a history of recent energy efficiency upgrades will be requested.

2  RESEARCH

An aerial view of the building will be generated for an initial review of relevant factors such as roof space, obstructions and shading. After initial review, if the site is confirmed as a good candidate for solar, a site visit is scheduled. During this initial meeting, a thorough understanding of overall desires and expectations are discussed and the property is walked to gain a full understanding of viable options.

 PROPOSAL

This information is compiled into a proposal and a second meeting is scheduled. At this meeting, the proposal including both scope and financing options are discussed and finalized. If changes are to be made, they are made at this time and a letter of intent is signed along with a solar agreement.

4  ENGINEERING

A structural engineer and possibly a roofing contractor if a roof system is chosen, perform a structural analysis of the existing roof to ensure it is capable of handling additional system weight. If another system style is chosen, the appropriate technical analysis along with electrical engineering is performed at this time.

5  SUBMISSION

Utility paperwork is compiled and submitted for the project. The submission includes utility specific interconnection paperwork and an electrical one line diagram. Upon approval, the utility generates an Approved Interconnection Service Agreement and the project is approved for installation.

6  INSTALLATION

To prepare for installation, a building permit is pulled, materials are ordered and a transition meeting is held with all stakeholders. A timeframe agreed to by all parties is identified and materials are delivered. The installation begins and upon completion, the utility is contacted to schedule a witness test which verifies the system. Once the system passes, the net metering system is installed and the system is turned on.

7  CLOSEOUT

World confirms the project is in proper order and the system is running as designed. The business is again contacted to ensure they are satisfied with the operation of the new system and completion documents are signed.

The new solar system is up and running and the business enjoys all benefits the installation of a solar system can bring.
